Definition of Work:
The Food Service Worker II performs food service and sanitation work involving heavy manual tasks in food operations and service areas. Some assigned tasks may include lifting and moving objects up to 22.5 kgs (50lbs). The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

• Constantly moves/lifts up to 10lbs, regularly moves/lifts 10-50lbs and is required to lift/move objects up to 50+lbs with co-worker assistance. Pushing/Pulling with Light to Medium forces (11-44lbsF) is regularly required.
• Constantly stands/walks. Walking up to 500m may be required to deliver meals, multiple times daily.
• Work regularly involves reaching/stretching, bending/twisting and bouts of low-level postures (kneeling/crouching/stooping)
• Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas
• Certain work environments present exposure to loud noises; personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.
Required Qualifications:
• Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
• Demonstrated ability to lift heavy loads.
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• Consistent demonstration of NL Health Services corporate values; Innovation Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (I CARE).
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge of institutional food handling and sanitation.
