Demands, duties, qualifications
DUTIES: The successful incumbent will provide specialized services for children, youth and adults affected by sexual abuse and other forms of trauma including family violence based on current theory and best practices. This will include clinical assessments and intervention using advanced skills and specialized knowledge in the area of trauma informed practice. The incumbent will utilize advanced counseling skills for the development of therapeutic relationships and offer service through individual, family, group intervention, crisis intervention and advocacy. This position will provide regional consultation to internal and external partners; including partnering with professional groups and communities in the delivery of skills-orientated education/intervention/prevention programming specific to sexual abuse and other forms of violence.
QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the area of trauma therapy, teaching and health promotion is required. The incumbent must have demonstrated competency in interdisciplinary collaboration, advocacy and strong decision making skills. The incumbent must demonstrate considerable analytical and facilitation skills together with strong written and oral communication and organizational skills. The required knowledge and abilities for this position would normally have been acquired through progressively responsible work in the area of Mental Health and Addictions in an interdisciplinary service delivery model. Graduation with a Master's Degree in Social Work is required, supplemented by at least (5) five years of related mental health and addictions experience. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
If there is no suitable candidate with the required qualifications, consideration will be given to individuals currently enrolled in a master's program and completion of the program within 5 years.
