Responsibilities

Acadia seeks a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our Division of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies department as the Grant Facilitator. Reporting to the Director, Research Grants and Programs, but also working closely with the Executive Director of the Office of Industry and Community Engagement (ICE), the Grant Facilitator will collaborate with Acadia faculty, staff, and students to identify grant/funding opportunities and to develop external funding applications for federal and provincial funding agencies, foundations, and not-for-profit/community funders.

The Grant Facilitator is a pivotal position that will support Acadia's mission to foster research excellence, drive the university's research revenue through external grants, and enhance the impact of our research community. As a key player in the implementation of the Strategic Research Plan 2024-2030, the Grant Facilitator will help elevate Acadia's research reputation by facilitating the success of research funding applications and developing cross-campus research capacity.

Duties will include:

  • Identify, promote and facilitate faculty research funding opportunities and grant preparation activities.
  • Liaise with faculty members and staff to translate research concepts, initiatives and results into written documentation, reports and proposals.
  • Project management of the grant application process, including developing timelines and workplans to ensure grant submission and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Organize and deliver workshops on research grant funding opportunities and best practices in grant writing, for faculty and graduate students.
  • Develop knowledge translation strategies for Acadia research activities by creating plans to effectively disseminate research to various audiences, including academic, policy, and community.
  • Write articles, reports, etc. that translate complex research into accessible language for non-specialist audiences.
  • Organize and facilitate events to promote and celebrate activities, grants and awards associated with faculty and student research.
  • Maintain the Research, Innovation, and Graduate studies website and develop online resources that will support the Acadia community and highlight Acadia's research accomplishments.
Qualifications
  • We are seeking candidates who possess an undergraduate degree, with a minimum of three years of research-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial funding agencies, particularly the Tri-Council (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) and other relevant funding bodies.
  • Experience or knowledge in financial management, budget creation, and ensuring accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize and present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in developing and delivering workshops or training programs.
  • High level of attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with website management and content creation, as well as social media management.
