The Director of Accreditation and Quality Assurance is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring that the institution meets the highest standards of educational accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance. This position oversees institutional and program accreditation processes, collaborates with academic and administrative leaders, and fosters continuous improvement to maintain the university's academic excellence. The successful candidate will be a "hands-on", detail-oriented professional committed to advancing institutional growth while adhering to accreditation and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Accreditation Leadership

  • Serve as the primary liaison with accrediting bodies to ensure full compliance with institutional and programmatic accreditation standards.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of accreditation documentation, including self-studies, reports, and assessments.
  • Coordinate institutional reviews and new program accreditation processes, fostering strategic growth.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accreditation standards and advise leadership on their implications.

2. Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all higher education regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

3. Analysis and Quality Assurance

  • Analyze data from course evaluations, program reviews, and institutional assessments to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrative leaders to ensure programs meet quality benchmarks and align with institutional goals.
  • Lead data-informed initiatives to enhance institutional effectiveness and student outcomes.

4. Policy Development and Implementation

  • Develop, revise, and enforce policies related to accreditation, compliance, and academic integrity.
  • Provide training and resources for faculty, staff, and leadership on accreditation standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure that institutional policies are aligned with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the university.

5. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all accreditation and compliance activities.
  • Compile and analyze data to produce detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely submission of required documentation to accrediting and regulatory bodies.

6. Strategic Collaboration and Leadership

  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on accreditation, compliance, and quality assurance matters.
  • Engage in governance activities, such as Academic Council Board participation, to guide institutional decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of quality and compliance across the institution, inspiring teams to achieve excellence.
  • Represent the university at accreditation, regulatory, and professional conferences and events.
Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree is required; a PhD or terminal degree is an asset, especially in the context of Canadian higher education.

Experience:

  • Experience in accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance within higher education. Experience taking a program accreditation through the full lifecycle from concept through Introduction is preferred.
  • Proven leadership in managing academic policy, procedures, and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects, fostering collaboration and achieving results.

  • Strong risk management expertise to identify, assess, and address compliance risks effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and navigating complex conversations with professionalism.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset to drive data-informed decisions and quality initiatives.

Hours of Work

This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
