The ENP Technologist will be responsible primarily for performing EEG procedures. The successful applicant will be involved with the provision of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary service, whereby the operation and maintenance of various neuroelectrophysiology equipment is done independently for the purpose of obtaining various diagnostic neuro-physiological results from patients who have been referred from the various disciplines. The technologist will oversee the day-to-day activities of entry level technologists and DNP students and will provide instruction, evaluations and supervision to DNP students. The technologist will also participate in the establishment of protocol and procedures, normal baselines, policies, equipment parameters, recording techniques, and filing systems for DNP department and will provide orientation and demonstrate equipment and procedures to hospital personnel. The candidate will also assist in determining feasibility of new techniques and new equipment. The candidate will be required to work with considerable independence in cooperation with fellow technologists. This position reports to Division Manager, Medicine Program.
Job Demands
Occasionally lifts objects over 10 lbs. and moves objects over 50 lbs. in the form of portable equipment in the transfer or lifting of patients.
Regularly required to sit to operate equipment, interview patients and write reports with the constant need for fine motor skills.
Visual concentration is required for proper data acquisition and troubleshooting.
Eye/hand coordination is required on a regular basis.
Exact results and precision are required on a regular basis.
Job Qualifications
Successful completion of a recognized training program in Electroneurophysiology, supplemented by experience in the operation of electroneurophysiological equipment is required.
Experience and/or training in EEG procedures is required.
Experience and/or training in evoked potential studies or electromyography/nerve conduction studies would be an asset.
Registration or eligibility for registration with the Canadian Board of Registered Electroencephalograph Technologists (CBRET) is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required
