2025-26 Expression of Interest - Specialty Teaching Contracts - FRENCH

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is the largest centre for education in Atlantic Canada with approximately 11,000 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Serving close to 58,000 students in 137 schools, our geographic region spans a 350 km radius.

HRCE is inviting qualified French Teachers interested in opportunities for the 2025-26 school year to apply to this expression of interest, particularly in French Immersion Secondary Math.

Contracts are with the Halifax Regional Centre for Education, and contract recipients will be eligible to apply in the Spring (timelines and processes will be shared in advance) to specific positions in order to secure a French Teaching position within one of our 137 schools for September 2025.

Teachers who meet the following criteria may be eligible for a contract:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • French Second Language Methods training
  • Satisfactory French Proficiency Interview (FPI) through the HRCE's French Program Department:Candidates will be assessed in both oral and written language skills and must be approved for French Immersion. If you have not already completed an interview or need to be rescreened please book your appointment at the following link - http://bit.ly/HRCEFPI .
  • Nova Scotia Teacher's Certificate:Candidates must be eligible for a NS Teacher's Certificate through the Office of Teacher Certification with the NS Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) - https://certification.ednet.ns.ca/ (Contracts are conditional on recipients submitting necessary documents to the EECD and successful receipt of a NS Teachers Certificate)
  • Applications are reviewed regularly and candidates may be contacted prior to the posting close date.

  • Transcripts (which include confirmation of a French Second Language Methods course)
