Eastlink is currently seeking an Application Administrator in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The BSS Application Administrator is a key member of the IT Business Support Systems team. This role will be responsible for performing administration tasks for the Eastlink Business Support Systems. The BSS Application Administrator will work closely with various business units in a collaborative manner to ensure that business applications are maintained and supported in a manner that ensures efficient and effective service delivery to the business.

The BSS Application Administrator must be knowledgeable about the Eastlink products and services, will work closely with the application vendors and other stakeholders to ensure performance and availability of the systems.

The BSS Application Administrator will work within a very dynamic and fast paced environment and should possess the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, deal with tight deadlines, and manage within an ever-changing environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform problem analysis and resolution for complex application issues.
  • Coordinate with development team to provide technical support for all business support systems.
  • Administer all implementation issues and generate short term and long-term resolution as well as preventive measures.
  • Engage the vendors on issues relating to the Billing system and other applications.
  • Manage incidents and requests and ensure resolution within the service level agreement.
  • Ensure application proactive monitoring and overall process improvement.
  • Support the delivery of key technology projects and other business initiatives.
  • Responsible for performing application maintenance tasks and conducting system health checks.
  • This role is part of an on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Systems support and administration experience.
  • Previous telecommunication working experience is considered an asset.
  • Configurations Management and Process Flow experience is preferred.
  • Must have Strong analytic and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Experience working on different operating systems.
  • PL/SQL programming skills
  • Python/scripting experience considered an asset.
  • Previous security experience considered an asset.
  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective in identifying, preventing, and solving problems as necessary in an ever-changing environment.
  • Creative in developing solutions to business problems, and willing to consider non-traditional lines of thinking.
