The Manager, Initiatives & Optimizations contributes to the overall success of the Business Banking Operations (BBO) in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
This role will support strategic decision-making for Directors and VPs and aid in the delivery of initiatives and objectives. This position is ideal for a critical and strategic thinker who is curious, committed, and an excellent team player. You will be business-minded and understand the importance of supporting decisions with data analytics. Your ability to think critically and strategically, combined with your technical skills, will be essential in driving the success of the BBO Analytics program.
Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Responsible for developing proposals and recommendations for Senior Management to identify opportunities and action plans to maximize productivity and gain efficiencies while protecting the partner, customer, and employee experience.
- Develop and implement analytical reporting using PowerBI & SQL to enable management to form data-driven strategies, tailoring reports to different audiences.
- Lead and manage BBO Analytics Pipeline & any ad hoc initiatives from senior management, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Apply critical and strategic thinking to analyze complex business problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Understand and manage the implications of overstaffing/understaffing, performance, business demand, and identifying BBO characteristics that create staffing challenges.
- Implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

- Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in PowerBI for data visualization, working experience with Excel and SQL.

- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with expertise in interacting effectively with all levels of management, including Executive.
- Effective Partnering Relationships: Ability to develop and maintain highly effective partnering relationships with key stakeholders.
- Organizational Change Management: Proven track record of organizational change management solutions.
- Educational Background: Master's degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred but not required
