POSITION: Kitchen Supervisor, Full-Time
Villa Acadienne/Villa d 'la Baie are long term care facilities that has adopted the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care. JOB PURPOSE:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Food Services Department and ensure that high quality meals are provided to residents to assist in maintaining their overall health.
- Work with the Dietitian to plan meals which are in accordance with the likes, dislikes, and eating habits and dietary reference intakes and Canada's Food Guide.
- Ensure standardized recipes are followed for consistency in textures; observing methods of preparation; tasting and smelling prepared dishes; viewing color, texture, and garnishments; verifying portion sizes; ensuring meals are prepared and ready for delivery in a timely manner.
- Working to develop and provide in-service education for all team members and residents relating to food and nutrition.
- Conduct resident and family satisfaction surveys, conduct food audits, participate in care plan meetings, ensure food safety guidelines are adhered to in the food production and cleaning process.
- Address resident and family issues.
- Play a leadership role by inspiring, demonstrating and encouraging staff to create/enhance a life worth living and mitigate loneliness, boredom and helplessness for residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and abilities:
- Graduate of a recognized cooking school (Journeyman level).
- Graduate of a recognized food service supervisory or management course.
- Food Handlers Course and WHIMIS.
- Minimum of five (5) years cooking experience in a related setting.
- Minimum two (2) years supervisory or management experience.
- Considerable experience in large quantity cooking.
- Computer literate (Office 365, email etc.).
- Able to communicate in French and English (an asset).
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to coach, lead and work with others.
- Excellent listening, negotiating, team building and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to make timely decisions, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
