Details:

The Plumber contributes to the effective operation of the Physical Plants within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and implements the principles of good energy management stewardship. The plumber is responsible for the installation, repair, preventive maintenance and upgrade of plumbing systems, hot water heating systems, peripheral devices and other equipment at all buildings owned and operated by the Centre. These duties include work of plumbing tradesperson's competence, physical capability, and mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude. The position reports to the to the Regional Assistant Managers and takes direction during shifts from on duty maintenance supervisors.

Qualifications:

(a) Grade 12 High School Diploma or academic equivalent through educational programs such as a Graduated Equivalent Diploma;

(b) Certification of Qualification as a Plumber recognized by Province of Nova Scotia;

(c) Five (5) years experience in the plumbing trade with a minimum 2 years in a building maintenance environment;

(d) Additional technical experience or qualified certification in areas such as steamfitter, pipefitter, welding, HVAC, electrical, etc. is an asset.

(e) Certification or willingness to obtain certification in Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator;

(f) Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and satisfactory driving record;

(g) Physical and mechanical aptitude to perform a full range of maintenance and manual task.

Compensation:

Classification: Trades 2 - NSUPE $31.02 per hour.

Plumbers are members of the Nova Scotia Union of Public & Private Employees, Local 2. The NSUPE Collective Agreement can be accessed HERE .
