The Department of Transportation and Infrastructureâ??s mission is to contribute to New Brunswickâ??s economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public. Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
What you will do?
Working closely with the Regional Director, you will ensure delivery of programs for the maintenance and construction of bridges and highways.
In this critical leadership role, you will lead a group of employees delivering essential public services for the safe and reliable operation of provincial highway infrastructure over a geographical area in New Brunswick.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities:
- providing technical and managerial direction to the district maintenance teams in the areas of highway, bridge, and building maintenance;
- administering and managing the delivery of the district highway and bridge maintenance programs;
- administering approvals for subdivision developments, managing human resources issues, responding to public inquiries, and ensuring safe and environmentally sound work practices are in place and properly managed.
Work environment:
- Saint John (District #4) â?? Office Location: 400 Main Street, Suite 2094, Saint John.
- Fredericton (District #5) â?? ÂOffice Location: 1025 College Hill Road, Fredericton.
- Edmundston (District #6) â?? Office Location: 486 St-François Street, Edmundston.
- Standard hours of work: Monday â?? Friday.
- Regular travel within the District boundaries and some travel within the Province will be required.

Essential qualifications:
Engineer 4:
- University degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience, including five (5) years in the field of highway construction and/or maintenance.
- Administrative experience and a minimum of three (3) years experience directly managing and supervising employees is also required.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid Class 5 driverâ??s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we will consider applicants with lower qualifications and appoint at the lower classification:
Engineer 3:
- University degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience, including three (3) years in the field of highway construction and/or maintenance.
- Administrative experience and a minimum of one (1) year experience directly managing and supervising employees is also required.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
- An equivalent combination of experience may be considered.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Saint John (District #4): Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Fredericton (District #5): Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Edmundston (District #6): Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

SALARY:
Engineer 4: $3,233.03 to $4,216.64 bi-weekly (based on a 36 ¼ hour work week).
Engineer 3: $2,840.95 to $3,888.52 bi-weekly (based on a 36 ¼ hour work week).
