Employment Opportunity: Regulatory Consultant

The Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) is a not-for-profit, independent body established by legislation under the Health Professions Act. The NLCHP regulates Audiologists, Dental Hygienists, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Respiratory Therapists, Medical Radiation Technologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturists and Midwives. The NLCHP collaborates with each health profession College to regulate the multiple health professions. The NLCHP is seeking a full time Regulatory Consultant to support and further the Council's mandate.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, the Regulatory Consultant is accountable for assigned roles in the development and implementation of, and ongoing contribution to regulatory processes to achieve the requirements with the Health Professions Act and the Regulations of each health profession regulated under the Health Professions Act.

Responsibilities encompass roles in initial registration and renewal of health professionals, development and implementation of processes related to regulation of existing and new health professions, the coordination, development, implementation and continuous improvement of a regulatory management system (registrant database), development and oversight of quality assurance processes and a direct liaison with each health profession College.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a master's level education in health policy, public administration or related fields. A bachelor's degree with combined experience and related expertise will be considered.

Experience in a health-related environment or professional regulatory/legal environment or have comparative administrative experience/expertise with transferrable skills.

Experience in professional regulation, policy development, change management.

Experience in the development and maintenance of a Regulatory Management System (Registrant database).

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Outcome focused and detail oriented.

Ability to think conceptually and analytically with problem resolution skills.

This is a permanent full- time position. The Council offers a competitive salary with contributions towards health benefits and RRSPs.
