The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health & Epidemiology as a Regional Senior Program Advisor. Reporting to the Regional Medical Officer of Health (RMOH), the successful candidate will work directly with the RMOH to support regional public health initiatives and projects.
As the Senior Program Advisor, you will:
- Develop Work plans or project plans, including performance indicators, evaluation and reporting for regional public health initiatives and projects;
- Complete literature reviews and research to support regional public health initiatives;
- Conduct community engagement, network building, and advocacy activities;
- Lead region-specific initiatives or projects (e.g., immigrant and refugee health, Indigenous health, nutrition, child development, tuberculosis, harm reduction, obesity reduction, etc.);
- Develop and support regional community public health networks or communities of practice;
- Support the RMOH in Health Emergency Response;
- Prepare reports and knowledge translation products, including communication materials for regional public health issues of concern;
- Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends in population health at the regional level.

Essential Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Administration, Nursing, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene Science, Health Policy, or a related health field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in public health domains, such as: communicable disease prevention and control, health promotion and well-being, health protection and environmental health, health impacts relating to harm reduction and substance abuse, or other relevant work experience, OR
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Administration, Nursing, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene Science, Health Policy, or a related health field.
- A minimum of seven (7) years related experience in communicable disease prevention and control, health promotion and well-being, health protection and environmental health, health impacts relating to harm reduction and substance abuse, or other relevant work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Experience managing and implementing public health projects or initiatives;
- Experience collecting and analyzing data;
- Experience completing large projects in both a team and an individual capacity.
Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $75,478 to $100,412 per annum (Pay Band 6)
