Job Summary
The Trades Worker I (General Maintenance) is responsible for maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting work in the building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical trades' areas. This includes general building and equipment maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, installing and repairing faucets, clearing drains, repairing cabinets/shelves/tables, mowing lawns/grounds, snow clearing, assembling/installing of equipment, moving furniture, ordering/receiving and maintaining accurate levels parts/supplies and performing other related duties as required.

Constantly lifts, carries or moves objects up to 11 lbs., regularly between 11 - 44 lbs. and occasionally over 44 lbs.
Regularly requires physical effort using tools that require accurate control and steadiness; maintaining physical balance, standing, walking, climbing, using gross and fine motor skills, and working in awkward or cramped positions requiring strength and/or endurance.
Work is impacted by time pressures/deadlines, interruptions and lack of control over work pace as priorities change, services being interrupted, etc.
Job Qualifications
Certificate or recognized formal training program in the trades' area such as small engine repair or welding is required.
A minimum of one year of current experience in the repair/maintenance of equipment at the commercial/institutional level is required.
Training or certificates in WHMIS, Confined space and Asbestos Abatement would be an asset.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
