What you will do

Working onsite at the King's Head Inn and Axe and Plough Café, you will be responsible to ensure a high-quality product as well as a timely and consistent level of service within a fast-paced work environment.

  • Working with the Visitor Services Manager to design period-appropriate menus
  • Preparing food and serving customers as per safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Cleaning and maintaining work area as well as the equipment used during food preparation
  • Acting as team lead for other restaurant staff and foster a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork and collaboration
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
  • Ensuring food is stored properly
  • Performing related work as required

Work Environment

  • Location: Kings Landing, Prince William, NB
  • Environment: Kitchen, occasional mild exposure to heat, cold and water; long periods standing
  • Standard hours of work: Shift work with variable hours including daytime and evening shifts, weekends

Operational Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or hospitality industry
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment
  • Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of individuals
  • Familiarity with restaurant management practices, including inventory control and cost management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff, management, and customers
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling

Need to have

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of a related approved course or program
  • Minimum of three (3) years of food preparation experience in large quantity cooking
  • Knowledge and understanding of procedures related to safety, sanitation and food handling
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required

Nice to have

  • Food Safety certification
  • Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification
  • Experience with special events (weddings, themed dinners, etc.)
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training

Wage

$25.44 per hour
