Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Scrum Master. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB.

Here's where you'll be focusing:

As an Scrum Master with Sobeys, you will:

  • Agile Practices: Understand the ecosystem and practically apply relevant agile practices to the backlog management process. Guide the larger team on Scrum principles, practices, and ceremonies to enhance productivity and delivery.
  • Backlog Management: Facilitate the end-to-end backlog process, including gathering requirements, prioritization, planning, and delivery. Work closely with solution program managers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of scope, priorities, and timely delivery of enhancements.
  • Collaboration with Solution Teams: Collaborate with multiple technical solution teams to coordinate and deliver enhancements. Be the primary point of contact for enhancement-related communication, updates, and dependencies. Foster a culture of collaboration and open communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Complex Environment Management: Leverage your experience in working with complex, integrated ecosystems to navigate and resolve challenges that may arise during product development and delivery.
  • Incident Management: Assist in incident management by coordinating with relevant teams, resolving issues, and ensuring incidents are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Delivery Model: Our delivery model is mix of regular releases and sprint-based delivery. Help the team manage the different delivery approaches. Manage team capacity and velocity by collecting, aggregating and visualization of metrics.
  • Agile Tool: Utilize your experience and proficiency in Agile Place a similar tool to effectively manage tickets, track progress, and report on team performance. Help the team in utilizing Agile Place boards to its fullest potential for enhanced productivity. Use metrics like burn-down charts or velocity tracking to help the team and stakeholders understand progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the enhancement and incident management processes. Encourage the team to continuously improve their practices to enhance efficiency and delivery.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify risks and dependencies related to enhancement delivery and work with the team and stakeholders to mitigate potential issues.

Your experience and resume will show us:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master in IT projects.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Agile principles and Scrum framework.
  • Ability to work in a complex and integrated ecosystem, collaborating with multiple product teams.
  • Familiarity with enhancement and incident management processes.
  • Proficiency in Agile Place or a similar ticket management tool.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of best practices for product development and delivery processes.
  • Adaptability to switch between regular release and sprint-based delivery models.
  • Information Technology background, professional certification (CSM, PSM etc.) or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with outsourced service providers and vendor management.
  • Experience and/or expertise in application development, support (Level 2 & 3), delivery and deployment in retail industry.
