Salary
NS - 28 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $38.62 - $48.10 per hour with a premium locum rate of an additional $25/hr for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) continuous days for this benefit to apply. Other applicable benefits will be paid in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.

About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to patients of the Day Surgery Unit at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the Labrador-Grenfell Health Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
? Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
? NRP, ACLS and TNCC courses are considered an asset;
? Breastfeeding education/course;
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check;
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Completes preadmission through history and physical examination;
? Prepares and receives client from the Surgical, Endoscopy and Minor Procedures;
? Organizes, plans, implements and evaluates the plan of care for assigned clients;
? Familiar with the operation of equipment;
? Participates in the auditing process as required;
? Documents as per professional and organizational standards;
? Administers medication and participates in Medication Reconciliation;
? Participates in the orientation, mentorship and preceptoring of staff;
? Represents nursing on various committees as required;
? Participates in quality assurance initiatives as requested/required;
? Practice independently according to professional and organizational standards;
? Acts as a liaison between the client and other healthcare providers;
? Other related duties as required
