Job Summary

As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Your primary focus will be ensuring the smooth operation of enterprise-wide systems, networks, and applications.

Responsibilities
  • System Maintenance: Perform regular system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Server Configuration and Management: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server operating systems and applications. This includes both physical and virtual servers.
  • Network Management: Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Ensure network connectivity throughout the company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is at optimum performance.
  • Security Maintenance: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and implementing security policies.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for critical systems and data. Regularly test and update these strategies to ensure they are effective in case of a system failure or data loss.
  • User Support: Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with software installations, and resolving network connectivity problems.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. Keep documentation up to date with changes and improvements made to the system.
  • Patch Management: Manage and apply software patches, updates, and upgrades on a regular basis to ensure systems are secure and up to date with the latest features and fixes.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor system performance and resources usage trends to identify potential bottlenecks and capacity issues. Work proactively to address these issues before they affect system performance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT team members, including network engineers, software developers, and cybersecurity specialists, to ensure seamless integration and operation of all systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years' experience as a system administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and protocols.
  • Experience with VMware.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (i.e., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Experience with Azure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Relevant certification (i.e., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)) are desirable but not required.
