Definition of Work:
The Domestic Worker performs standardized housekeeping tasks. Instructions from supervisors are specific in nature and work is subject to inspection during progress and upon completion for attainment of established standards of cleanliness. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

• Regularly lift/move objects 10-25lbs and occasionally lift/move objects up to, or in excess of 50lbs. Pushing/Pulling with Light to Medium forces (11-44lbsF)
• Constantly stands/walks. Ladder climbing and balance are required to change privacy curtains and may be required on-demand.
• Work regularly involves repetitive reaching/stretching, Repetitive bending/twisting and repetitive bouts of low-level postures (kneeling/crouching/stooping) when performing most cleaning tasks.
• Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. May be exposed to patients/residents with potential risk for aggressive behavior.
• Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas. Working alone may occur at times.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
• Demonstrated knowledge of institutional cleaning practices.
• Demonstrated experience in housekeeping.
• Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE).
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
