The Senior Core Network Engineer will be responsible for Eastlink’s mobile core infrastructure. The incumbent will be working in a highly collaborative environment within the “Mobile Core” team as well as other departments and vendors/suppliers, in order to deliver on projects, to ensure the operation of existing systems, and to participate in design of future systems and technologies. As a senior member of this team, the incumbent is expected to take lead on technical design efforts in the role of a solution architect, and to serve a mentor role within the team.

Supporting a broad range of technologies, the candidate will need to have a high aptitude for self-learning, where research is often required. The role is that of a self-starter with good troubleshooting skills, excellent time-management skills, who thrives in collaborative environments and can handle tight timelines with high quality expectations. Some after-hours maintenance work, occasionally in our datacenters, may be required from time-to-time.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 10 years of working experience in a Telecom/IT-related field.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC, IMS and 5GC architectures.
  • Experience in signaling protocol analysis with industry tools such as Wireshark.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing solutions such as Openstack, or containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, is a strong asset.
  • IP networking background desired. Certifications such as CCNA are an asset.
  • Scripting/Programming background is desired. Familiarity with node.js or Javascript is an asset.
  • Any experience maintaining DNS systems (eg; Bind) is an asset.
  • Web development background is an asset.
