Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., which employs over 3,600 people and operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking Project Managers to join its operations team in Waterville, Nova Scotia.

The Project Manager's main focus will be leading all aspects of large-scale engineering projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This will include all project milestones from identifying the business need, through to design, assembly and implementation. As a Project Manager and leader, you will ensure appropriate project team structure, resource efficiency and financial accountability.

Job responsibilities include:

  • defining the framework for each project or program, including all vital resources, while maintaining consistency with the objectives assigned by the project sponsor or steering committee;
  • ensuring that the project approach is clearly defined and applied and the appropriate standards are respected. This includes the project charter, check lists, milestone validation, governance, budget management, etc.;
  • guaranteeing all functional specification requirements are satisfied while respecting the project quality, cost, timeline and risk management;
  • providing leadership and mentorship to support the development and performance of the other project management team members; and,
  • establish, implement, and follow a formal organizational change program.

Requirements for this position include:

  • 2-5 years of direct work experience in industrial project management as a Project Manager or Project Leader, ideally in manufacturing or a similar on-site industrial setting;
  • experience leading a project portfolio up to $5 million CDN per annum;
  • a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent is helpful;
  • PMP certification is considered an asset, but not required; and,
  • proficiency with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to meet project milestones based on a specific timeline for multiple projects simultaneously. They must also possess the ability to communicate and connect with all levels of the organization from shop floor operations personnel to senior plant management. Demonstrated leadership experience is also an asset.
