JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time

SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the incumbent works independently and with considerable latitude in judgment and action to deliver high quality translation services from French to English.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in translation and a minimum of five years' experience in translation; or university degree in a related field and a minimum of eight years of work experience in translation;
  • Good mastery of current techniques and methods in translation;
  • Demonstrated competency in writing, revising, editing and proofreading;
  • Excellent knowledge of the various software applications included at a translator's workstation;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Quantitative and qualitative performance in line with department and industry standards and reasonably consistent;
  • Strong analytical abilities, sense of initiative and good judgement;
  • Ability to set priorities and work under pressure;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Expertise in identifying areas requiring verification, research or consultation;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain excellent working relationships with clients;
  • Adaptability to different types of clients and the variety of their requests;
  • Adaptability and flexibility;
  • Certified membership in a provincial translators' association or the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC) or eligibility for same;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to the rules of confidentiality set forth by Vitalité Health Network.
