Reporting directly to the Manager of Racing & Broadcast and working closely with the Security Department to ensure the highest level of safety for our equine athletes, tenants, and visitors. This position will provide support for Racing at Red Shores through administrative duties, daily monitoring of the barnyard, tenant communication, equine health, guests/tenant entry checkpoint, barn/stall management, bio-security measures and monitoring as well as all other duties assigned by the Manager of Racing.
50% Barn Yard Management
• Access Management to Red Shores stabling area for public, tenants, and equine athletes.
• Enforce compliance of Red Shores Track Rules & Regulations as they pertain to the barnyard.
• Enforce compliance of stall rental agreements.
• Issue warning letters, fines, trespass notices etc. as required.
• Support Security with all investigations of complaints of animal welfare, theft, physical or verbal abuse.
• Maintain a safe & healthy environment for staff, tenants, equine athletes, guests through regular inspections, maintenance requests and reporting.
• Advocate for equine health, ensuring proper animal welfare is being practices on site.
• Stay current on equine diseases, health protocols and recommended bio-security measures.
• Implement and enforce bio-security measures at the direction of Management.
• Assist various local authorities when directed by Management.
50% Administrative duties
• Daily log and reporting of barnyard activity including horses coming to and leaving the grounds, subletting, incidents, altercations etc.
• Ensuring proper paperwork is completed and provided in a timely manner to the Race Office. (subletting, rental contracts, stall requests/return forms etc.)
• Perform stall audits on a weekly/monthly basis, with reporting and recommendations to Manager of Racing & Broadcast.
• Report and provide support on all investigations of complaints regarding animal welfare, theft, physical or verbal abuse.
• Maintenance Request submissions and follow up.
• Provide invoice details for maintenance repairs or modifications being charged to tenants.
• Excellent organizational skills are imperative as well excellent communication skills.
• Experience in a related field of three (3) or more years or a combination of equivalent working experience and education.
• Experience in a leadership role of two (2) or more years and/or advanced understanding of people management principles and practices.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to meet and exceed customer service standards and expectations and resolve customer and employee concerns.
• Working knowledge of computer software applications required.
• Proven ability to contribute to a team environment.
• Demonstrate analytical and proven reasoning and planning skills to solve a range of strategic and practical problems.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and report writing are necessary.
• Ability to de-escalate situations, communicate firmly with authority, remain composed under pressure.
• Harness Racing knowledge considered an asset.
• First Aid/Equine First Aid certificate required.
• Bilingualism is an asset.
