This is a RNUNL position. RN (Regional Registered Nurse I) NS-33 ($46.33 to $57.45) classification, depending on experience credits, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance. Other benefits in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.

Financial incentives may be available and can be combined including:

Demands, duties, qualifications
About the Role:

The purpose of this position is to provide care primary care (preventative, health promotion, supportive, rehabilitative, and curative) and emergency services to clients. The position offers an excellent opportunity to advance nursing knowledge and decision-making skills while managing a generalized primary health care program by working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. The Regional Registered Nurse I reports to the Regional Nurse II /Clinical Nurse manager for clinical programs.

Qualifications:

? Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
? Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
? Completion of an Outpost Nursing Program or other education/certification (e.g health assessment course) is an asset;
? 2 years' experience as an acute care nurse with preference for emergency care, ICU experience, regional or outpost nursing within the past five years;
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

In addition the following is required:

? Current certification in BCLS and/or First Aid
? ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP and medevac course;
? Successful completion of the Breastfeeding Essentials Course or willing to complete during orientation;
? A Class V Driver's license;

Duties (Include but not limited to):

? Arranging and conducting clinics for primary care purposes including assessing, diagnosing and prescribing in accordance with professional, provincial and organizational standards, policies and clinical practice guidelines;
? Coordinating treatment plans based on ongoing assessments, client and family response and outcomes, consulting with physician or nurse practitioner if required care is outside of provider's scope of practice and competencies;
? Assesses clients' needs leading to a continuum of appropriate services in public health & home/community care, including prenatal, healthy beginnings/long term care, child health, preschool, school health programs, wellness promotion, parenting, breastfeeding, travel and lifestyle clinics, routine immunization clinics, communicable disease surveillance, curative interventions, end of life care, rehabilitation, long term care support, support of family caregiver;
? Dispenses medications in accordance with professional, provincial and organizational standards, policies and clinical practice guidelines;
? Coordinating medical follow-up (e.g referrals as appropriate; facilitating transition from hospital to community; and acting as a liaison between the client and various health care providers);
? Consults with the assigned physician and report to the RN II for administrative/management issues;
? Ensuring quality assurance standards are maintained;
? Other duties as assigned (e.g. emergency on-call, documentation of nursing workload measurement system, provide relief in other sites as required;
? May be required to relieve the RN II;
? Participates in professional development and lifelong learning;
? Maybe required to work alone.
