Store Manager

Founded in 1942, Northumberland Cooperative started as a farm-owned business then expanded the retail supply business by constructing the buildings in Miramichi, NB in 1974. The current co-op hardware and lumber retail business operates under the Northumberland Timber Mart banner and has a vacancy for a Store Manager. Position Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this position are managing all aspects of the retail hardware and lumber supply store. This includes accountability for store operations and direct reports. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is specifically responsible for:

  • Managing the store staff with 15 direct reports and ensuring adequate staffing levels based on season. This includes aspects such as recruiting, performance management, providing feedback and direction to staff etc.
  • Store sales from both resident and commercial client mix.
  • Customer relationship management which includes understanding/anticipating needs in terms of service, selection and pricing.
  • Inventory monitoring and replenishment in terms of active SKU's.
  • Fleet delivery vehicle monitoring: small fleet which includes maintenance, efficiency in terms of fuel, routes and analysis to make recommendations for changes.
  • Management of occupational safety program such as audits, safety meetings, WCB reporting.
  • Store efficiency, cleanliness, layout, shelving, etc.
  • Product selection, evaluation.
  • General profitability awareness: sales per department, profit margins, revisiting and monitoring pricing to drive profit, etc.
  • Provide General Manager with input and recommendations on overall organization goals and direction. Comfortable with different levels of audience groups for presentations, industry presentations on occasional basis.
  • Special Projects: new point of sale system and also capital expansion projects.

Qualifications:

  • An equivalent combination of work experience and/or education will be considered, however industry familiarity is a definite asset
