Department Overview:

TDBG spends over $5bn each year with suppliers. The Strategic Sourcing Group's (SSG) role, in collaboration with our business partners, is to create sustainable competitive advantage for TDBG by leveraging this 3rd-party spend and the expertise of our key suppliers to meet our needs, reduce total cost and mitigate supply-related risks.

Our role is global in scope, and we have just embarked on a journey within our department, and more broadly across the organization, to transform the way we do sourcing, Procurement and vendor management.

Our team comprises over 200 people who are located in various TDBG locations across North America.

Job Description/Accountabilities:

The Procurement Manager is a results-driven team player who will manage a team of Procurement professionals to create the best methods for the day to day Procurement activities within Bank. In this capacity, the person will interface with stakeholders across the organization, internal business partners, subject matter experts, other members of SSG and 3rd-parties to support the execution of an estimated 5000 transaction per annum.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Central Buying Team, the Procurement Managers key accountabilities are:

  • As a member of the Procurement leadership team you will implements, monitors and act as a subject matter expert on all Procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Responsible for processing higher value, strategic Sourcing Requests and Purchase Orders transactions under the defined category buying strategies.
  • Proactively engages with the Strategic Sourcing Functions to identify new opportunities to leverage Procurement tools and processes, and/or e-Auction related buying strategies.
  • Drive value through early engagement, commercial acumen, market knowledge and understanding of contract term and conditions.
  • Ensure data integrity across procurement systems and develop actionable insights to enhance procurement efficiency and cost-effectiveness; support monthly reporting of departmental KPIs and savings targets.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of dedicated buyers to execute against department KPI's and Savings Targets and drive procurement velocity for transactional processes.
  • Create an environment that encourages growth, visibility, and continual learning. Recognize and value individual differences and contributions; seek to include diverse and global perspectives.
  • Ensure effective delivery of Strategic Sourcing Group (SSG) services to business partners and ensure prompt and thorough resolution of all client issues.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with partners in SSG (TPRM, Category Leads, etc.), the business, and vendor management communities

Job Requirements:

Education/Accreditations

  • Post Secondary education/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience as a Procurement Manager

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience of Strategic Sourcing practices
  • Previous experience managing the procure to pay process.
  • Strong knowledge of buying group functions and customer service
  • Negotiations experience
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions
  • Experience managing portfolio's with spend in excess of $500 Million considered an asset.
  • Strong commercial acumen and business judgment
  • Proven experience managing and leading high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder/relationship management skills.
  • General knowledge of the TDBG organizational structure, including main business groups and their functions
  • Experience with e-sourcing tools and reverse e-auction (both set-up and execution)
