The Rental Delivery Drivers (RDD) role is to serve as the customer facing representative for the Rental delivery business. RDDs are responsible for safe transport of our rental fleet to customer locations and job sites, providing knowledgeable support and exceptional customer service throughout the customer's entire rental experience, and adhering to Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Provincial, and Company guidelines; while executing on the processes, behaviors, and expectations of the Home Depot (THD) Rental business standards and customer demand. The RDD must uphold The Home Depot's core values and project a positive image. While maintaining a high level of professionalism, following The Home Depot's safety policies and procedures are critical to performing the deliveries. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working environment by following all safety policies & standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery of Large Equipment
- Follow prescribed routing as outlined in dispatch and communications from Logistics Coordinator and/or Regional Rental Manager (RRM).
- Loads and unloads equipment on trailer(s), ensuring proper security and tie-down of equipment.
- Operate trucks and trailers for local deliveries and pick-ups of large rental equipment to and from stores and/or customer job sites.
- Assists with deployment of new equipment to store locations, auction sites, deliveries to stores.
- Ensure all Large Equipment assets are returned to Home Depot store locations clean, properly secured on assigned trailer, and full of fuel.
Daily responsibilities and expectations
- RDDs are responsible for fostering a culture of customer service & support and GET involved to help customers solve problems.
- Ensure delivery trailer is plugged in and charging at the end of every shift.
- Learns and demonstrates high quality customer service standards for on-time delivery service.
- Maintains professionalism in appearance, dress, personal conduct and provides a positive company image.
- Communicate any appointment delays to RRM.
Documentation
- Accurately follows rental process, including obtaining required signatures on rental contracts.
- Performs daily pre trip/post trip inspections on company assets.
- Maintain vehicle compliance in accordance with company, provincial regulations, and Ministry of Transportation guidelines and maintain & certify accurate Electronic Logging Device (ELD - Samsara), Hours of Service (HOS) driver logs/vehicle inspections and vehicle documentation.
Safety compliance
- Work in accordance with all safety protocols by following all Home Depot policies, such as: Home Depot's standards of Performance, safe driving practices, using proper lifting techniques, and utilizing all necessary and prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow all safety and Hazmat procedures.
- Maintain Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Additional duties include but are not limited to completing preventative maintenance on equipment which will require use of your own tools.

Travel Requirements:
- May require overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- May include physical demands such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.) from the waist, lifting from the shoulder, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, reaching, and stretching.
- Environment will require repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including skilled work with fingers. Occasionally, employee will be required to work at heights and climb onto equipment.
- Parking lot work: working outdoors, including in extreme hot and cold temperatures; working around dirt, grease, fumes, oils, and chemicals; prolonged exposure to loud noises from engines, compressors, power tools, and equipment.

Minimum Education:
- Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Work Experience:

Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License for the province you reside in and good driving record.
Other Requirements/Assets:
- Must be 18 year or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
- Must pass a background check.
- Resides within 25 kms of target city or willing to commute to base location.
- Regular scheduled shifts may include weekends and may be asked to work outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
- Working knowledge of handheld technology (ex. smartphone, laptop, tablet, applications, etc.).
- Must provide own standard tools used in the trade/craft.
- Knowledge of and/or experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers and towable construction equipment, operating safely within high traffic or congested city zones and in small areas
- Working understanding of safe load securement, tie downs, and transport
- Working knowledge and understanding of Ministry of Transportation guidelines and Safety regulations
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers; doing what is necessary to exceed customer expectations.
- Experience in equipment rental industry (mechanical, driving, counter sales, customer service, etc.)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, troubleshoot, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, including weather, traffic, and others.
