Job Summary

The Cancer Care Program of NL Health Services invites expression of interest for a full time position as a Medical Oncologist within the Cancer Care Program, working at the Corner Brook regional cancer centre, in Newfoundland and Labrador. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply.

The Cancer Care Program has a provincial mandate to deliver cancer care to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. It operates primarily at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre (DHBMCC) in St. John's, with regional cancer centres providing systemic therapy in Corner Brook, Gander and Grand Falls. The Corner Brook Cancer Centre is fully equipped with a systemic therapy suite and modern radiotherapy infrastructure. The centre has active virtual multidisciplinary tumor boards for all major disease sites and is co-located with expert surgical and medical consulting services within Western Health. The Corner Brook site is undergoing expansion to include on-site medical staff and radiotherapy, and is expected to be operational by 2025.

The successful candidate will join 13 other Medical Oncologists (9.34 clinical FTE) as a full-time clinical equivalent and will be responsible for treating two main disease sites with provision of care for at least a third minor site. Our oncologists participate actively in multidisciplinary rounds and work closely with colleagues within the provincial cancer care program. The Cancer Care Program medical staff is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland Labrador. This position offers an opportunity for teaching and scholarly activities including clinical trials participation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree.
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (or equivalent) in Medical Oncology.
  • Deemed eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. For more information visit: [email protected] .

Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in NL and commensurate with the level of training and experience.
