Definition of work:
The Regional Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Coordinator will provide leadership to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Regional IPAC program. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading the development of policies, procedures and strategic initiatives to advance the Regional IPAC program. This position will report to the Director of Community Health Nursing, Primary Health Care & IPAC.
The Regional IPAC Coordinator is accountable for developing, coordinating, and monitoring organization wide infection rates, structures, and processes for continuous quality improvement related to IPAC, clinical safety, and developing collaborative relationships with internal and external links that strengthen IPAC in the region and provincially. Regional travel is required.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Five (5) years' recent experience as a registered nurse in a clinical nursing setting supplemented by two (2) years' recent experience managing and leading projects of a complex nature and scope.
• Demonstrated knowledge of IPAC processes and their application in process improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology and infectious diseases.
• Demonstrated knowledge in program planning, development, and evaluation.
• Demonstrated significant clinical knowledge of healthcare systems.
• Demonstrated strong analytical abilities and evidence-based decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to encourage, support and champion innovation and change throughout the organization.
• Demonstrated experience as a change agent.
• Demonstrated progressive leadership experience.
• Demonstrated vision and the ability to plan and implement new services.
• Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Masters in a health-related field.
• Certification in Infection Control.
• Completion of an infection control course.
