Job Summary
The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist III performs Cardiac and General Ultrasonography procedures within the Diagnostic Imaging Program. The Technologist prepares patients for procedures, maintains equipment and supplies, completes appropriate records, and collects statistical data. Additionally they operate digital echo equipment in performance of 2 and 3 D/M Mode Color Doppler, as well as Pulsed and CW Doppler for inpatients and outpatients, either in the department or via portable equipment.

Constantly lifts or moves objects less than 10 lbs. and regularly between 10-30 lbs. Push/pull up to medium forces.
Occasionally pushes and pulls objects or transports patients over 50 lbs. in wheelchairs or stretchers.
Regularly stands, walks, or sits for extended periods to perform activities.
A very high level of alertness and attentiveness is required when performing scans/procedures due to patients condition, safety and also because some scans/procedures are captured in real time.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program in Diagnostic Ultrasonography is required.
Current clinical training/instruction in echocardiography and/or completion of a program in Cardiac Sonography from a recognized institution is required.
Current registration and member in good standing with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

Training Opportunity
If there are no internal or external applicants that meet the required qualifications, consideration will be given to an applicant, that has graduated from a recognized (accredited) Diagnostic Ultrasonography program, currently registered and is a member in good standing with Sonography Canada and who is willing to complete both courses and on-the-job training to become a Registered Cardiac Sonographer. The applicant must complete approved courses as determined by the employer and become registered with Sonography Canada as a Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS). The courses and registration must be completed within two years of commencing the position.
**Financial support will be provided to cover the costs of course registration, tuition, books, and fees. Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services will provide this financial support which is contingent on acceptance into the courses and continued successful standing throughout the training program. The successful applicant will be required to submit copies of their grade reports. A service commitment will begin once the applicant has completed the required courses and become a Registered Cardiac Sonographer. During this time period, the applicant will be put in the position on a temporary basis.
