Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is looking for a leader to fill this newly created role within the provincial health authority. The Role
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President Mental Health and Addictions will be key member of the Executive Management Committee and Senior Leadership Team with their initial focus to develop and design a client focused provincial mental health and addictions program structure. Mental Health and Addictions is currently delivered across all populations in a variety of acute and community settings. The incumbent will be challenged to consider the current delivery of services through geographic zone based organizational structures, the vision of the Health Accord, the wellbeing focus for the future and the current needs of the population. As a member of the Executive Management Committee, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to envision, enable, and support the delivery of mental health and addictions programs and services that are based on a provincial standard of care, integrated, efficient, sustainable, high quality, safe, and responsive to the needs of citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The VP will work closely with other members of the executive committee to ensure the design of a provincial program is integrated with other corporate, zone and provincial services. The VP will be accountable for creating and fostering a healthy workplace that promotes effective working relationships that attract, develop, retain, and motivate staff across the health system. They will assume a leadership role in ensuring the programs and departments assigned to the portfolio are successful in attaining defined goals consistent with the strategic operational and fiscal goals of the PHA.

All senior leaders will share responsibility for culture, which includes a commitment to safety and physiological wellbeing. Members of the Executive Management Committee may be assigned responsibility for programs, departments, or projects within the organization, as determined by the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements of the Role
The successful candidate will have extensive experience as a senior administrator, strategist, and policy developer and have exceptional communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders. The individual must have significant knowledge and expertise in mental health and/or addictions and maintain currency of information/practice in this area. The individual has demonstrated leadership ability, integrity, and the ability to facilitate and lead change.

The ideal candidate will draw on 7+ years of experience at a senior leadership level that involved planning and delivering a variety of complex, integrated health services provided in several locations with multiple partners. They will demonstrate an excellent understanding of health service delivery with a clear track record of operational performance.

The successful candidate is a passionate, empathetic leader with exceptional business acumen and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the LEADS Framework. They must also demonstrate the key skills, behaviors, abilities, and knowledge outlined in the five domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.

Candidates should be masters-prepared or demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel throughout the Province may be required.
