The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Instrument Planner to join our Maintenance Planning and Control team at the Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8-hours, dayshift.
As an Instrument Planner, you will be helping to facilitate the continuous improvement of the Maintenance team's performance, through the effective use of established processes and procedures. Your experience and skills will be accountable for the project planning of work for Nickel Refinery's Maintenance Department and may be required to provide relief supervision as needed.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
- Execute the "Planning" element of the process for all types of work orders, systematic and non-systematic maintenance, which includes shutdown (PMP) and external resource-related work.
- Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with emphasis on safety and based on priority and required end date. Ensure work order users' statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order.
- Coordinate and facilitate with the Scheduler to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.
- Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets. Work within assigned budgets and escalate to management should a budget be exceeded.
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of the "work schedule" for completion by the Required End Date.
- Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other planners, schedulers, and crew members.
- Relief supervisor as required which requires holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism; and work with the team to develop an interactive workplace environment.
- Project planning and facilitation on process improvements.
- Commissioning new facilities and helping create MST's to turn over to the mine.
About You
Education:
- Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency is required.
- The ideal candidate will have a College Diploma or University Degree in a related industrial field or a University Degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Valid trade certificate for the province of Ontario is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working within SAP and the Prometheus add-on as a Planner or Scheduler.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading crews.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Instrumentation trade.
Skills:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
