JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Regional Neurology Department head and the medical director concerned, the neurologist focuses on the nervous system in health and disease. Neurologists provide care for patients with diseases of the nervous system, including conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, neuromuscular junction and skeletal muscles. Patients with neurological conditions are often disabled with illnesses that affect their identity and independence.
Neurologists diagnose and manage the care of patients with diseases affecting the nervous system. They gather information from the patient's history and physical examination in order to localize the neurological lesion. They integrate those clinical findings with the results of investigations of the nervous system, including neuroimaging studies and electrodiagnostic testing, to determine the cause of the acute or chronic neurological condition.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Recognized certification in neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
OR
- Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in neurology
- A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criteria
- Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);
OR
- Listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada.
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
- Active member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
- Member of the New Brunswick Medical Society;
- Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
- Registration with New Brunswick Medicare.
- Experience (one to three years) is considered an asset.
- Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered.

NOTES:
- The salary for this position is sessional fees.
- Moving expenses allowance.
