Reporting to and under the direction of the Associate Vice-President (Research), the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer will coordinate the development of the University's EDI Action Plan, as required by the Canada Research Chairs Program. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting research on best practices in EDI, collating the results of the University's data gathering on EDI, coordinating focus groups for equity-deserving faculty and staff on campus, drafting the EDI Action Plan in accordance with best practices, and developing EDI training and educational initiatives.
Term: Contract Term, 9 - 12 months
Hours of work: 25 - 35 hours per week
Classification/Level: Band 5, $51,988 - $57,385 (pro-rated based on hours worked)

Research on Best Practices in EDI
- Conduct environmental plan of EDI Action Plans in the Canadian university sector.
- Conduct research on best practices in equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in Canada and internationally.
- Develop standards and guidelines for EDI at the University, with a special focus on faculty research.
Collating Results of Existing Research on EDI
- Analyze results of the University's Employment Systems Review survey.
- Analyze results of the University's Policy Review.
- Analyze results of the University's Diversity Meter survey.
- Analyze results of the University's stakeholder interviews.
- Produce a comprehensive plan for integrating all existing data into the EDI Action Plan.
Coordinating Focus Groups for Equity-Deserving Faculty & Staff
- Develop methodology for conducting focus groups with equity-deserving faculty & staff.
- Coordinate with external consultant(s) to conduct focus groups.
- Synthesize and analyze the results of focus group discussions.
Drafting EDI Action Plan
- Bring together all findings from the University's data-gathering initiatives.
- Draft a complete EDI Action Plan in accordance with CRCP requirements and best practices.
- Revise EDI Action Plan as required by the CRCP.
Developing Training/Educational Initiatives
- Conduct an environmental scan of educational and training initiatives at Canadian universities.
- Develop educational and training initiatives for the University community that are appropriate responses to the findings of our EDI research and consultation.
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field; graduate degree is an asset.
- 4-6 years of employment experience in a relevant work environment.
- Demonstrated experience working on issues pertaining to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and analyzing research.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, project management, and writing skills.
- High-level communications skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Some experience in statistical analysis is an asset.
