As part of the Operations team, Power Plant Operators are responsible for implementing the safe and reliable operation of the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station as per operating policies and procedures managing the stations systems, structures and components to maximize safety and optimize production.
Key functions include:
• Operating and monitoring of all controls and equipment relating to station operation during normal, abnormal or emergency conditions.
• Collaborating with the Secondary Control Area, Main Control Room, Work Clearance Center and Field Operations.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Diploma in Power Engineering Technology OR Process Control Technician, or on track to graduate in April 2025.
• 4th Class Power Engineering license valid in the Province of New Brunswick.
• Preference may be given to Power Engineering Technology graduates and those with a 3rd class Power Engineering license or greater.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or a Class 7 Level II Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (Driver's Abstract will be required).
• Proven commitment to safety, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Results oriented individual with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
Conditions of employment include:
Due to security requirements at Canadian Nuclear facilities, the successful candidate will require a Site Access Security Clearance which includes verification of background information, references, a Criminal Record Name Check and a Canadian Security Intelligence Service security recommendation.
Following the successful completion of training, employees will be required to work a shift schedule and adhere to minimum shift compliment rules as mandated by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.

As part of this competition, testing of aptitude and skills in relation to the Power Plant Operator position must be completed and a passing score obtained. Testing will be administered in person at the Point Lepreau Generating Station, there is no option for remote testing.
NB Power will accept foreign credentials as long as they are considered acceptable by a recognized Canadian educational institution. Candidates with foreign education credentials are required to provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Any applicable fees are the responsibility of the candidate.
