The Corporate Planning team is responsible for supporting the budgeting and reporting of Fuel and Purchase Power requirements, providing financial and operational analysis for various corporate groups on key strategic decisions, and managing the regulatory and rate-setting processes.
As part of the Corporate Planning team, this position is responsible for providing an outlook of future costs and energy balances of NB Power through the forecasting of revenues, energy, and future demand.
Key functions include:
• Performing Fuel and Purchase Power forecasting.
• Conducting Fuel and Purchase Power reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Providing decision support analysis for strategic initiatives and financial hedging.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline AND Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of New Brunswick
• Eight years of experience working in a power utility, which includes:
o Five years' experience working with modelling software and experience using economic dispatch modelling software, preference will be given to candidates with experience using PROMOD or PLEXOS
o Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
o Ability to use tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and prepare technical documents
o Demonstrated ability to lead projects and ability to manage stakeholders at a senior level in the organization
If no candidate is identified who meets the specified criteria for the Engineer V position above, preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications and will be considered for classification as an Engineer I - IV.
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline AND Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of New Brunswick
• Six years of experience working in a power utility, which includes:
o Three years' experience working with modelling software and experience using economic dispatch modelling software, preference with PROMOD or PLEXOS.
o Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
o Ability to use tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and prepare technical documents
o Demonstrated ability to lead projects and ability to manage stakeholders at a senior level in the organization
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
