Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to join its Waterville, Nova Scotia team.

Mission:

The role of Michelin's Occupational Health Nurse is, in conjunction with the Occupational Health Physician and plant OHS/SP team, to provide programs and services to safeguard and enhance the health of employees and in so doing improve the employees' contribution to the company. The nurse reaches these targets in a manner that respects safety regulations, the environment, people, and ultimately Michelin's customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • handling required medical examinations prescribed by the occupational physician;
  • handling the medical records of site employees, guaranteeing that they align with regulations;
  • conducting medical examinations and providing care within the scope of qualifications;
  • administering first aid, acute and emergency care when needed;
  • handling clinical equipment and helping to identify equipment requirements on behalf of the site medical services;
  • assisting the site management team with risk analysis in the fields of health and safety;
  • provides advice to employees to protect against occupational hazards;
  • provides counselling and leads programmes to promote the health and wellness of personnel;
  • acts as primary liaison with external agencies (WCB, treating providers, etc) and contractors; and,
  • assist in Disability case management as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of nursing with RN designation

Assets:

  • demonstrated ability working in a hospital setting or medical clinic;
  • Occupational Health Nurse certification;
  • previous experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment;
  • emergency room experience and/or experience as a department or clinic manager; and,
  • experience/training working with mental health and addictions.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following:

  • excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to develop positive relationships with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and customers;
  • strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues, and;
  • superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
