Demands, duties, qualifications Definition of work:
This position is responsible for gathering and processing financial information to determine eligibility for supportive services, subsidies, and other related benefits in accordance with provincial and regional policy and guidelines. The successful candidate interprets policies and practices for the client, client agent, and/or service provider (i.e. Nurse, Social Worker, Caregiver, Agency, Personal Care Home Owner, etc.). The successful candidate will liaise with regional professional teams, provincial and federal government departments, financial institutions, client agents (i.e. bookkeepers/agencies), and service providers as part of daily work activities. The Financial Assessor will be responsible for ongoing evaluation and review of financial eligibility and service/support entitlement, as well as, responsible for the review and audit of financial operations of external/private service providers. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Diploma (3 years) in accounting approved by Central Health or a Degree in Business Administration/Social Sciences with significant coursework in accounting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Central Health's Community Services/Support Programs.
• Demonstrated experience in interviewing techniques and assessing financial information provided by or on behalf of clients.
• Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills are essential.
• Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of computer systems and applications.
• Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Previous work experience in Financial Assessment services.
