Job Description:

Manage and/or lead a team of technology Data Analysts / Data Specialists responsible for the build, design, development, testing, execution, and quality assurance of Data / Information Management solutions ensuring effective integration and processes are in place across the enterprise. Role may also be a technical expert within a specialized data management field responsible for providing team leadership and building out Data / Information Management organizational capabilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESCUSTOMER

  • Build, oversee and manage diverse team of data / information management Analysts/Specialists and related operations and set team goals / objectives in alignment with overall Business strategies
  • Manage the team in driving out the technology strategic roadmap, including the introduction of big data technologies, advanced analytics, data modeling and other capabilities that will deliver meaningful data analytics
  • Oversee the delivery of data products in report / presentation format to specifications and timeline in alignment with overall business data governance/information management strategies
  • Responsible for ongoing data sourcing and management (e.g. quality assurance, analysis, and the production and distribution of Management Information)
  • Support technology leadership team in driving out the information excellence program and build technical and governance capability across all aspects of data analytics and modeling
  • Support technology leaders and champion for the 'single view of the customer' as well as 'single view of the bank – One Bank' in IT
  • Be accountable for building data management capabilities and leveraging it as a competitive advantage for TD
  • Build Information as a Service capability and implement the Information Excellence capabilities defined by Enterprise Architecture.
  • Make data consumption on-demand and transparent and provide fit for purpose services – reports, analytics, model and data
  • Significantly reduce the cost per consumption of data while improving quality
  • Build strong relationship with ITS, Architecture, TRMIS and work in partnership to develop leading edge technology solutions with a special focus in the Big Data space
  • Interface with technology teams supporting AML, Marketing, Fraud, Risk, Security and Compliance looking for opportunities to share/leverage enterprise data and integrate diverse data sources to enable big data analytics and enterprise level reporting
  • Oversee the data acquisition and analysis process and facilitate conversations in increasing efficiency and quality of data analytics delivery
  • Lead the efforts in integrating siloed, irregular and external data from TD systems and data warehouses to enable a consolidated view of customer information to drive behaviour and predictive analytics
  • Assess existing analytics tools and enhance existing analytical capabilities and quality of data to enable greater automation
  • Investigate new opportunities to create and develop more effective methodologies and processes for collecting, analyzing and presenting data
  • Actively consolidate and rationalize Corporate data stores
  • Optimize operational efficiencies by taking opportunities to reduce cost through process improvement, unit costs reduction and provide meaningful financial insight to the functional leader or CIO and manage the operational and department costs with a high degree of transparency


SHAREHOLDER

  • Lead and manage the team responsible for the Data Management / Information Excellence data deliverables including contribution to the overall project business requirements and data requirements
  • Accountable for team adherence to prescribed data management, governance standards and processes, ensuring timely notification of issues/problems, review escalated risks and issues, work with stakeholders to develop contingency plans, resolve risks, and escalate further where necessary
  • Oversee and facilitate coordination efforts with other technology teams such as, ITS, Architecture, TRMIS and CIO teams etc. to ensure teams are effectively managing deliverables to ensure project success
  • Apply standards and best practices to ensure that the application's data is accurate, complete, current, understandable, and accessible
  • Implement quality, operational, and service management processes and ensure adherence to the processes
  • Provide testing estimates and estimate revisions for costs and resources and track financial actuals against provided estimates and provide forecasts to appropriate stakeholders
  • Implement , maintain and enhance Data Governance, Data Quality and related policies, in alignment with TD's Enterprise standards and frameworks
  • Develop and manage the departmental plan and budget to ensure effective use of corporate funds and compliance with budget targets and outsource vendor contract terms and conditions
  • Manage intake and demand, coordinating data resources as required and identify and source appropriate resources across all work streams, ensure all resources are used effectively
  • Oversee that requirements regarding privacy and security of data, data governance and access controls are appropriately captured
  • Participate in audit reviews of internal controls and processes when required
  • Ensure compliance with well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines

  • Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management and overall team leadership and provide regular on-going feedback and input into performance assessments and development plans
  • Continuously enhance knowledge / expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team
  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team/ business units


BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience implementing a Big Data stack (e.g. Hadoop).
  • Complete understanding and expertise with Data warehouse technologies including Database Management Systems, BI Tools and ETLs
  • Strong knowledge of when to use traditional vs big data solutions
  • Extensive experience in leading and designing complex data-intensive applications.
  • Extensive functional and technical knowledge of advanced analytics processes (building automated processes for data acquisition and analysis), systems and methods for prevention, detection and management of financial crimes
  • Senior role requiring significant people management experience and specialized knowledge of advanced data analytics within the context of a global bank
  • Generally reports to an Executive role with broader mandate


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Cert.
  • Graduate degree, preferred
  • 10+ years relevant experience
