The Mechanical-Structural Engineer performs important and rewarding engineering tasks in support of fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft such as: conducting liaison activities integrated with production team, design of structures and mechanical systems in support of aircraft depot level maintenance and modification programs, structural analysis to support the design changes, and engineering project management tasks for various projects as requested by customers.
What You Will Do:- Carry out technical investigations and engineering support activities as tasked by the customer to support fixed wind and rotary wing aircraft.
- Participate in performing liaison engineering duties and supporting production team to achieve schedule milestones.
- Perform non-standard repairs and structural design changes with analysis as required supporting aircraft maintenance and modification programs.
- Designing mechanical system modifications for aircraft
- Performing engineering project management related to modifications, alternate parts, or changes to maintenance programs.
- Participating or leading aircraft modification design projects
- Prepare detailed engineering reports in support of aircraft modification and installation projects.
- Performing airworthiness functions related to design changes implemented via repairs or modifications.
- Preparing or reviewing formal reports and other engineering deliverables.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers; and
- Other duties as tasked/required.
- B. Eng or B. Sc (Eng) or Technologists Diploma in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering
- Eligibility for registration in ENS or Tech Nova
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the MS Office and MS Windows environments.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of project management concepts.
- Experience with military or commercial aircraft or equivalent engineering experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of aircraft structures and systems.
- Familiar with engineering drawings and related MIL specs, preferably aircraft.
- Familiar with aircraft structural repair standards for metallic and composite
- Drafting experience in AutoCAD, CATIA or other drafting software will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge in classical stress analysis.
- Knowledge of fatigue analysis and damage tolerance analyses will be considered an asset.
- On-aircraft testing.
- Creation and management of databases.
- Knowledge of civil or military airworthiness and certification.
- Experience can range from 0 to 20+ years. Salary is commensurate with years of experience.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
