Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Manager, Finance & Reporting, is responsible for managing and scheduling activities of direct reports. This position ensures that work is performed accurately and in accordance with the Credit Union's established policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The incumbent is responsible for the completion of all financial reporting requirements for third party partners and any other related activities as required. The incumbent supports the Finance department and the Controller and represents the Credit Union in a positive and professional manner.

- Coordinates and manages the activities of Accounting Clerk(s) in the delivery of optimal accounting services in accordance with the Collective Agreement where applicable.
- Oversees and monitors attendance, develops, schedules, and ensures adequate staffing complement at all times in order to provide an optimal level of internal and external service.
- Directs accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Manages the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. Supports the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Coordinate and supervise the payroll function including the payment of all benefit and deduction items in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Assists in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring they comply with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Processes incoming requests for information and documentation from internal and external sources.
- Maintains the financial reporting system for third party entities and other partners with regular financial statement reporting as required
- Supports and backs up the Controller in their absence.
- Provides administrative support including but not limited to answering the telephone, typing correspondence, filing, checking reports and other documents.
- Volunteers and supports community initiatives and projects. Represents the Credit Union at events and other Credit Union system conferences and meetings.

- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience (including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience) or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience, preferably in the financial industry.
You are…
- Someone who has a strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Skilled with analytics, organization, and problem-solving.
- A strong leader with communication skills, and the ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
- Experienced with regulatory reporting and compliance in a financial institution is a plus.
