Essential Job Functions:
  • Open and close the facility
  • Patrol (by foot) the interior and exterior of the facility
  • Control access/egress to the building
  • Operate, access and monitor CCTV equipment
  • Troubleshoot and report on problems discovered through CCTV footage
  • Monitor alarm system
  • Provide security escorts
  • Provide high level of customer service – Able to liaise with all levels of staff, community contacts and patrons of the facility
  • Communicate professionally, respectfully and with compassion when interacting with members of the public and practicing de-escalation with trespassers and vagrants
  • Maintain a high standard of civility, deportment, and appearance
  • Complete well-written and detailed daily shift and incident reports as soon as possible following an event
  • Identify hazards that would have the likelihood of causing harm, injury or damage, evaluating the risk, and responding to and controlling hazards in a timely effective manner
  • Protect all persons (including public, staff, volunteers, on-site contractors, tenants) and property in the event of medical, fire, disaster, severe weather, bomb threat, evacuation and other emergencies; Liaise with key community contacts such as Sarnia Police Services, Sarnia Fire, Lambton EMS, etc, as required
  • Function as the primary first aid service provider. This might include the ability to administer a blocking medication such as Naloxone, and use of devices such as automated external defibrillators (AED)
  • Ability to utilize computer and various software including Microsoft Office
  • Other security duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard license
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR level C Certification
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license
  • Ability to deescalate tense situations
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills in English
  • Proven computer skills
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions and respond to emergencies while working independently
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
  • Reliable transportation to the job site
  • Position requires the ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to read and understand established post orders and follow direction from Manager
  • Successful interview with Site Manager

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:
  1. Double COVID-19 Vaccination Record
  2. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  3. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  4. First aid/CPR Level C Certificate
Successful completion of the following requirements provided by Paladin are mandatory prior to placement:

  3. Additional courses as assigned
