Pay Rate: $18.00 - 21.94 /hr. Rates based on a levelling system.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Security Front Line Supervisor serving IOL this position has the primary responsibility to perform all duties related to the Site Access Control System to control access to the Imperial Oil Sarnia Site for the purpose of security.
This position requires familiarity of the Imperial Oil Sarnia site and its practices, as well as an extensive general computer knowledge in order to perform all required tasks.
The Security guard is expected to represent Paladin Security Group as well as the facility they are assigned to.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Security personnel at this location are primary for emergency duties
  • Security personnel are to be conversant with emergency duties and procedures
  • Monitor Genetec access
  • Conduct Early Warning System test every second Monday as per schedule
  • Operate Site Center COM Radio system as required
  • Custodian of keys and key log
  • Issue card keys to authorized persons
  • Issue Site Access Control System visitor cards
  • Responsible for emergency loading rack shutdowns upon request
  • Notify Site Emergency Response Leader (S.E.R.L.) and the Security Shift Leader of all alarms
  • Notification to S.E.R.L. and Refinery Shift Superintendent (RSS) of any incidents
  • Monitor CCTV and report all unusual activities to the Security Shift Leader and S.E.R.L
  • Operate weigh scale during the off-hours
  • Liaise with other security staff on site
  • Provide assistance to all IOL contacts and contractors when requested
  • Liaise with site E.R.L. and Security Front Line Supervisor
  • Use software to detect severe weather and heat and crosspatch this to the site
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situation involving violent individuals and injuries
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • At least two years of security experience in a team lead role would be an asset
  • Post-Secondary education in a law enforcement/security program from a recognized college
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
  • Security Guards at Imperial Oil may be required to complete a drug & alcohol test for incidents that occur on Imperial Oil property
  • Must pass a N95 mask fit test
  • A successful interview with the Site Security Manager is mandatory

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:
  1. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  2. Proficient in English (both oral and written)

Successful completion of the following requirements provided by Paladin are mandatory prior to placement:
  1. Paladin's online WHMIS 2015
  2. Basic Safety Orientation through the IEC (will be arranged through Paladin)
  3. First Aid & CPR – Level C
  4. Additional courses as assigned
