Purpose


Leads and oversees the Practice Management Team supporting Scotia Financial Planning (SFP) in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Owns and leads execution of the Practice Management Team (PM) strategy supporting Scotia Financial Planning (SFP).
  • Train, motivate and coach a team of PM Consultants by identifying ways to ensure a high level of knowledge of the products, practice management disciplines, and distribution methods for SFP mass affluent client product shelf and advice tools/systems. Achieved through one-on-one sessions, workshops, seminars, conferences, training, and presentations.
  • Leads the strategic partnership with Dynamic Wholesale, including the coordination of team collective activities, building and implementing a SFP product strategy, and own key relationship management with Dynamic leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with the SFP leadership team (RVPs & RMs), SGAM partners, and the Bank, to garner support and to influence change, through ongoing communication across SSI, SGAM, Scotia Financial Planning, and Canadian Branch Banking.
  • Effectively execute the various Bank-wide employee development programs, including coaching, development and performance management (i.e. APPs, EDPs, iLead, etc.). Provide direct reports with continued opportunity for development, encouraging growth and movement throughout SGAM, and broader Bank.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? -We'd Love To Work With You If You Have:

  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Finance or relevant experience
  • 10 years experience within Financial Services
  • Highly skilled in People Leadership and Investment Distribution Strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Valid Mutual Funds License (CSC or IFIC), and PFP or CFP

Working Conditions
Work in a hybrid, work from home and standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Extensive travel domestically.
