The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Instructor, Justice Studies Public Safety. Position Type: Casual (Full-time) December 2024 to April 2025.

Location: Saint John

Salary Range: $33.85 to $47.70 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $52.08 hourly, based on their level of post-secondary education.

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair, Education, Community, & Protective Service, as a member of the faculty team. You will be responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to:

  • Security Foundations
  • Social Psychology
  • Documentation Skills
  • Investigative Interviews and Evidence

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You will also plan, evaluate and monitor student practicum placements.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in a related discipline or degree in social sciences or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated work experience in the corrections or policing environment and/or in the field of social services.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a criminal background check
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.
  • Teaching experience an asset especially in the area of Social Sciences, Social Services or related areas.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
