Job Summary
The Health Information Services Training Specialist works in collaboration with Clinical programs, the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI), management/staff of the Health Information Services and Informatics (HISI) department, vendors, and other support programs and administrative departments within NL Health Services. The Training Specialist will support quality improvement initiatives in the various areas of HISI with specific emphasis on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), collaborate with stakeholders to establish record standardization, support change management initiatives, and develop and implement education and training strategies to staff throughout the region. Additionally, this role will contribute to strategic planning, policy development, team leadership, cross continuum technology integration and project management. The Training Specialist will provide direction and support in the management and measurement of ongoing quality, process improvement and safety initiatives with in the HISI department and in all health record areas within NL Health Services.

Constantly required to perform fine finger/precision work while entering and manipulating data in electronic documents by using a mouse and key board.
Visual concentration is constant when reading and editing documents, writing policies and reference documents and completing monthly reports
Occasionally required to drive to various locations to perform work duties.
Exact results and precision are required when preparing reports and compiling statistical information.
Auditory concentration is constant while listening to multiple stakeholders, answering the telephones, etc.

Job Qualifications
Completion of Bachelor's Degree in a Health Information Management or related field is required.
Current and continued certification as a Health Information Management Professional from the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is an asset.
Minimum two (2) years (in the past (4) years) experience in data quality/quality improvement and/or education experience.

Competencies
Working knowledge of Microsoft office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access & Outlook/Email)
Demonstrated exceptional organization and analytical/critical thinking abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
Ability to communicate with, and relate to, many diverse groups of people, including but not limited to internal and external stakeholders such as: Management, Finance, Clinicians, Health Information Services and Informatics, Health Technology and Data Management, CIHI & NLCHI
Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures relating to Health Information Services.
