Site Description:
Bay Adelaide West opened its doors in June 2009. The Bay Adelaide Centre complex encompasses a whole city block and consists of the newly constructed East Tower, 1/2 acre urban plaza. Connected to the PATH (Toronto 27KM underground walkway) with 51 floors and 1,100 underground parking and on site management and 24/7 building access and security.
SECURITY OPERATIONS CENTRE GUARD JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To continuously monitor and operate all systems in the Security Operations Centre. Systems include but are not limited to, all communication systems, communication logs/audits, CCTV, access control, fire panels/computers, elevator computers, and security records. Maintain a positive relationship with Brookfield representatives and their guests; assist the Shift Supervisor in ensuring that all security guards adhere to procedures. Furthermore, the Security Operations Centre guard is also expected to:
- Ensure staff are following the assigned patrol schedule;
- Provide clear and concise communication to security staff;
- Record all information in a detailed and factual manner;
- Follow communication guidelines issued by the client, such as prompt notification of incidents; using correct notification groups and providing information that is detailed and factual;
- Be familiar with all Brookfield Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Procedures;
- Have very strong communication and customer service skills;
- Write detailed, factual, and concise incident reports for all incidents mentioned in Appendix A;
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook;
- Knowledge of security technology (i.e. CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion, and Incident Management and other security-related systems); CCURE is an asset;
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations in the area of security.

A. OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Provide ongoing support to the Supervisors and Site Supervisor as required;
- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with Brookfield staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required;
- Assist the Shift Supervisor to review security incident reports
- Ensure staff are dispatched to calls for service and security-related incidents and ensure the situation is monitored by CCTV;
- Record all relevant details in the Communication and Dispatch Log (CDL)
- Provide support to the Security Shift Supervisor and assist security personnel with daily security duties as assigned or required;
- Assist security personnel with day-to-day staff duties and ensure all standard operating policies and procedures are being met as required;
- Ensure the proper amount of staff respond to high risk incidents such as irate/emotionally disturbed people, medical situations and emergencies;
- Conduct random spot checks on the radio and CCTV to ensure staff are in their designated posts/zones;
- Inform the Shift Supervisor of all issues that may have an impact on the security services or staff performance;
- Provide recommendations to the Supervisors;
- Save all security documents in the proper folders and ensure the folders are organized;
- Maintain and update email groups when necessary;
- Check all equipment in the SOC to ensure everything is powered on and functional;
- Report all system issues to the client;
- Ensure the SOC is kept clean and free of clutter;
- Learn and follow all procedures in the Standing Orders;
- Ensure emergency response procedures are being followed;
- Have the Emergency Response Checklists readily available;
- Have the Emergency Action Plan readily available;
- Ensure all staff receive clear and detailed information while responding to incidents;
- Ensure all work stations are sanitized on a daily basis;
- Ensure all binders are organized and in the proper order;
- Ensure all handwritten logs are legible and contain all necessary information;
- Review all CDL logs on a daily-basis to ensure they contain relevant and accurate information without any gaps;
- Ensure the proper CCTV layouts are visible;
- Ensure all SOC equipment is in the designated area and not moved around;
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- French (oral and written) fluency is considered an asset
- Previous experience in security, by-law, parking enforcement - considered an asset
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware:
The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
