The opportunity:
The Energy Engineer - Engineering Shared Services is a professional engineer responsible for managing and optimizing energy usage and consumption in sites across multiple locations. The specific duties of the Energy Engineer may vary depending on the needs of the plant, organization, or site served. Reporting to the Efficiency One Engineering Manager - Shared Services, the Energy Engineer will provide technical support to internal E1 staff, as well as clients, which will involve visits to plant locations to work with their respective plant energy managers, facilities staff, engineering, production teams, and management to promote energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
- Developing and implementing energy management strategies to drive efficiency and cost-savings across multiple industrial sites.
- Analyzing and optimizing energy usage and consumption, using data and metrics to inform decision-making.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities for energy efficiency and sustainability improvements.
- Developing and implementing energy audits and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Overseeing the implementation of energy management projects, including selecting and managing contractors and vendors.
- Collaborating with site managers and key stakeholders to develop and implement energy management plans.
- Providing training and guidance to site personnel on energy management best practices in industrial settings.
- Manage budgets and financial resources related to energy management activities in industrial settings, including preparing fund applications.
- Prepare reports and present findings to senior management.
- Managed the full project budget, project schedule, and financial analysis.
- Develop and implement opportunities strategies to identify, target, qualify, and secure prospects for new energy efficiency, performance contract, and renewable opportunities.
- Support sales activities and resources from lead generation through development and implementation
- Serve as the key point of contact with customers and lead all presentations.
- Oversee the successful development, organization, strategic positioning, preparation, and issuance of winning proposals and presentations.
- Review project submittals for quality assurance, accuracy, and customer-oriented solutions.
- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project proposal and contract terms.
- Coordinate the development interface with project management and operations teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Review, draft, and provide feedback on internal engineering documents.
- Participate in evaluation processes, reviewing technical changes to measures and programs.
- Provide technical guidance to internal E1 staff.
- Perform all other duties as required.
What Will Help You Succeed?
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and eligible to practice as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in an energy-related role with experience developing and implementing energy management programs and/or energy savings projects
- Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification professional, and/or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
- Practical knowledge applicable to a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of energy efficiency measures specific to production.
- Experience in interpreting electrical and mechanical plans and specifications for facilities.
- Superior analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, take initiative, handle multiple tasks, and work to a high standard in an environment with tight timelines/deadlines.
- Proficiency with the MS Office 365 suite and related software. These include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, MS Project SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency calculation software packages such as RETScreen & MEASUR is a plus.
