The President's Office at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Strategic Advisor & Executive Assistant.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the President, the Strategic Advisor & Executive Assistant provides strategic and senior administrative guidance and support on issues and project management, internal and external relations, community engagement communications, and governance, all while acting as a senior and trusted advisor to the President. The role also includes management of the President's Office in general. Other key responsibilities includes:

  • Advise on confidential issues to ensure President has all insight and information required to make informed decisions
  • Provide excellent judgement, diplomacy and understanding of all issues to support the President and President's office
  • Stay informed of all policies and procedures of the University in particular those of highest direct relevance to the role of the President while remaining current on post-secondary educational issues and trends provincially, regionally and nationally
  • Provide general meeting preparation for the President
  • Attendance at meetings, as well as both on and off campus events, at times representing the President on her behalf.
  • Work irregular or extended hours during peak times of the year, including answering and respond to after-hour calls periodically
  • Build and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with these groups/individuals
  • Collaborate with·departments and university·representatives
Qualifications

You possess a university degree, preferably in Public Relations or Business Administration, along with 5 years of experience in communications, report writing, leading people, project management, and customer service. You have a high business acumen with a keen ability to build relationships, employ diplomacy and represent the University with the utmost integrity and tact, including at times acting as a public facing representative of the institution. Direct knowledge and involvement in government relations, or experience working in government, would be a critical asset for success in this role.
