Demands, duties, qualifications
Labrador-Grenfell Zone is seeking an energetic and experienced IT professional to join its team. This position, reporting to Team Lead of Information Management and Technology (Front Line Support) will assist with the IM&T Service Desk, which is the central point of contact between Labrador-Grenfell Zone end users and Labrador-Grenfell Zone's Technical Support staff on a day-to-day basis, leveraging teamwork, technology, expert knowledge, professionalism and the commitment to excellence.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized (approved) College with a two-year or three -year program in Information Technology/Computer Support is required
- Successful completion of the Comp TIA's A+ Certification OR MCSE Certification is required
- A minimum, two out of the last four years' experience in Information Technology is required
- Current working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking is required
- The successful applicant must possess strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and organization skills and be able to work independently in a client focused environment
- Experience with security protocols, secure communications, and network-based service deployment and management is an asset
- Experience in the planning, development, and support of information technology in a health care environment is an asset
- A satisfactory record of work experience is required

Duties
: (Included but not limited to)
- Exercise substantial judgment and autonomy to address and prioritize incoming requests each day received through direct calls, voice mail, email submissions, Self-Serve Portal, FAX and walk-ups
- Identify and analyze computer support, hardware and applications software problems, and recommend/implement solutions
- Provide computer consultation, advice, and other computer support services to staff using personal computers to access various productivity and Health Information Systems
- Assess various end user requests and determine hardware/software requirements for desktop users in a complex health care environment
- Provide desktop and network support to multiple departments (managers and staff) across multiple geographically dispersed sites
- Consult with end users and vendors to evaluate systematic issues with computer hardware/software and provide appropriate solutions to meet end user requirements, via the use of remote support software. Install and test vendor supplied software programs and modify default configurations of same to meet end user and organizational requirements
- As required, educate and orientate end users on the proper use of hardware and software applications and inform them on a reasonable expectation of these resources
- Maintain a wide range of desktop operating systems and various applications
- Install network and local printers on desktop computers with the use of remote support software
- Regional travel required
- Regional on-call is required
